Nigeria: Telco Regulator Renews License For Airtel Nigeria

Airtel, the pan-African telecommunications services provider, has announced that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has renewed its license to operate in the 900 and 1800 MHz
radio spectrum.
According to a reporting from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the chief executive officer of Airtel Africa, Mr Raghunath Mandava, confirms the license renewal will be in place for ten years until November 2031.
According to sources, Airtel Nigeria has paid US$189 million to get the operating license renewed. Mr Raghunath Mandava commented on the licence renewal: “This is our largest market, and we remain focused on bridging the digital divide and expanding our broadband capability in the country. On behalf of Airtel Nigeria and the Group, I would like to thank both the government of Nigeria and the NCC for their cooperation and support in this important process.”
