'MAMA' - The Show Celebrating African Creativity, Music And Culture Goes Virtual For 2021
Organisers of the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) have announced that the 2021 version of the annual jamboree that recognises and celebrates the best of African culture, music, and creativity will take place virtually on the 20th February 2021.
The show, essentially an award ceremony, will be staged in 2021 in partnership with Uganda and is expected to "feature vibrant performances from leading African and international artists in what will go down as one of the biggest cross-genre and cross-border collaborations in Africa.
According to executives representing ViacomCBS Networks Africa -the owners of MAMA - they are excited to bring the showcase to audiences with an innovatively re-imagined awards show and celebration. "The latest edition of the MAMA promises to be our biggest and most innovative yet. Millions of fans worldwide will enjoy the digitally re-imagined celebration and African music via multiple broadcasts globally."
The Minister for Tourism in Uganda also said that "It is an incredible achievement for Uganda to host the continent and International stakeholders for the MAMA Kampala 2021 for the first time."
