BritBox - The Streaming Platform From UK's BBC And ITV - Comes To Africa
BritBox (a British video streaming service) has announced that it will expand its video-on-demand platform to be accessible from Africa. BritBox is the product of a joint venture between the two largest terrestrial broadcasters in the United Kingdom - The BBC (via the BBC Studios) and ITV.
The owners of the BritBox platform say the coming into Africa is part of a global extension drive further from its current markets of Britain, Canada and the United States. It aims to get into other parts of Europe, Asia, South America and now later in Australia.
According to Ms Carolyn McCall, the Chief Executive Officer of ITV, the BritBox international expansion plans will help establish the platform as a global premium brand within a rapidly growing sector. "Offering subscribers the best and biggest collection in truly international scale."
Tim Davie, Chief Executive of BBC Studios, said that BritBox has very quickly found a place in viewers' hearts and we know there is a further appetite amongst international audiences who love great British content".
