Multichoice To Include Netflix And Amazon Prime Video To It's Stable
Multichoice, according to industry sources, has reached a preliminary arrangement with both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video to add their content to its platform.
The arrangement, once finalised, would help Multichoice achieve its strategic business goal to enable consumers to reach most video content through it's platform. The company is committed to becoming a "super aggregator" for video content in Africa.
Multichoice says it now has 19.5 million subscribers across Africa - with an additional 900,000 DStv and GOtv subscribers added in the last financial year. South Africa is still its biggest market - with just under 8.5 million pay-TV households - the rest of Africa is also beginning to pull its weight.
It should be noted that the subscriber numbers will set to grow once the MultiChoice "DStv dishless" product is launched. "DStv dishless" is like the current DTH service but without the need for any installation. All, of course, does depend on the pricing points too.
