DStv To Roll Out Easter Pop-Up Channel
A new pop-up channel will be launched by DStv for South Africans to celebrate the upcoming Easter weekend remotely.
The new channel, which will cater to the different Christian denominations, is a response to a rallying call from the country’s Department of Communications and Digital Technologies and will be rolled out on the 9th of April until Easter Monday on the 13th of April.
The channel, which has been named ‘Africa Easter Channel’, is in partnership with TBN Africa, DStv’s Channel 343.
MultiChoice’s Group CEO, Calvo Mawela, said that MultiChoice is happy to have promptly responded to the minister’s call to assist the millions of South African worshippers who view Easter as a pivotal time of worship.
He added that as a responsible broadcaster, MultiChoice is thrilled to partner with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies in this effort to allow worshippers to enjoy Easter from the comfort of their homes.
Popular gospel artists such as Dr Tumi, Lebo Sekgobela, Hillsong, Rebecca Malope and William will feature on the channel.
The channel’s line-up will also include churches such as Catholic, Methodist and Anglican.
Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies welcomed this initiative and said that communications and digital technologies would play a pivotal role during this health crisis period and beyond.
