Confederation Of African Football (CAF) To Issue TV Rights Tenders - Reports
The Confederation of African Football has announced an official invitation to tender for broadcast services related to its competitions, including the flagship Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
The tender process will also include all the qualifying matches for the 2020 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations; Africa Cup of Nations; the 2020 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations; the U17 and U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments; interclub competitions and the CAF Super Cup tournaments (during 2020 and 2021).
The CAF has also announced a tender for all marketing services related to the same tournaments during 2020 and 2021.
In November, the CAF informed Lagardère Sports that it had decided to cancel its $1bn agreement with the agency. That deal was due to be active from 2017 to 2028.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) then rejected Lagardère Sports’ application for interim emergency measures in its subsequent dispute with the CAF over the cancellation of a 12-year global sponsorship and media rights contract.
The agency has vowed to continue its pursuit to seek compensation from the CAF and added that the rejection by the ICC wouldn’t deter it from doing so.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations games will take place in Cameroon.
