Telkom Rolls Out VAS Platform, Telkom Plus Portal
South Africa’s Telkom has announced that it is rolling out a value-added service (VAS) portal called Telkom Plus. The offering is a Telkom-user only subscription platform that will aggregate wireless application service providers and content service providers.
Gugu Mthembu, from Telkom’s Executive Brand and Product division, said that Telkom Plus is a one-stop-shop for its customers to discover the range of digital services that are available on the Internet.
She added that this platform would allow a niche group of content services providers — like games, music streaming platform developers and apps — to put their products on the portal for a wider reach and service to the people.
Telkom Plus sports various improved additions, including a device detection function. Additionally, it features entertainment content such as games, videos, sports, lifestyle and social content.
Gugu Mthembu said that Telkom had a look at what was already in the market and did its intensive research on the need for this platform, and the decision was made to give customers an improved user experience.
Telkom Plus launched on Monday, 9 December. Customers will be able to access the portal on a browser, USSD and on the Telkom App.
