Cameroon: Telecoms Regulator Set To Audit Operators’ Turnover
Philemon Zo’ o Zame, the Managing Director of Cameroon’s telecommunications regulator, has announced that he will be recruiting a firm to audit the revenues of telcos operating in the country, namely MTN Cameroon, Viettel Cameroon and Orange Cameroon.
The regulator has opened up participation to national firms that have proven financial, auditing, accounting, engineering or economic competences in the electronic communications space.
The audit which will be covering the 2015-2018 period should not last more than three months, according to Zo’ o Zame, and it is aimed at ensuring the authenticity of the financial data that is transmitted to the regulator by the nation’s telecoms operators.
The regulator stressed that each of the highly experienced experts that are to be suggested by firms should not have previously been an auditor, information system or telecommunications expert for any of the operators to be audited, their affiliated companies or subsidiaries under the firms over the past three years in Cameroon.
Zo’ o Zame has ordered that seven copies of each bid, written in English or French, be sent to the regulator’s procurement department in Yaoundé, by the 9th of December, 2019.
