Netflix Starts Production On Second Original African Series
Netflix Africa has kicked off the production for its second original African series.
The upcoming series, Blood & Water is a coming of age, mystery drama that is based in Cape Town.
The highly-acclaimed award-winning director Nosipho Dumisa (Best Director, Fantasia International Film Festival) will be working on the project alongside the production house -Gambit Films. The new series showcases a line-up of young talented actors which includes two newcomers in the leading female roles.
Puleng Khumalo, portrayed by Ama Qamata, investigates the cold case of her older sister who was abducted-at-birth. In the search, Puleng meets the alluring and beautiful Fikile “Fiks” Bhele from a nearby private school, played by Khosi Ngema in her debut role.
Joining the brilliant female leads is Thabang Molaba who plays Karabo’ KB’ Molapo, a bad boy and high school heartthrob who is struggling to meet his father’s high expectations.
In her search, Puleng finds an assistant investigator and ally in Wade, who is played by Dillon Windvogel (Arendsvlei), while also having to deal with the opinionated Wendy Dlamini, portrayed by Natasha Thahane (Lockdown, The Queen, Skeem Saam).
The series is expected to debut globally on Netflix, in over 190 countries next year.
