Harish sat with Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) towards the OTT Content Streaming and VOD Services Forum taking place on the 5th – 6th February 2019 at the in Radisson Blu (Gautrain) Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Below is an excerpt of the conversation Harish had with the BMA on the forthcoming Forum where he is a featured speaker and panellist:
BMA: Why did you decide to get involved in this Industry Forum On OTT Content Streaming And VOD Services?
Harish: I decided to get involved in the Forum because the company that I head, Zee TV is not only a TV channel but it is also a distributor of content. We are involved in movie production, content production and also supply a lot of content to Bollywood.
We also have our own digital platform, Zee5. OTT content streaming and VOD service is a crucial part of our business so Zee TV has a lot to share at this forum and we are also interested in gaining new knowledge around content and distribution.
BMA: What are your aspirations for the industry concerning ways of leveraging the evolving changes in media consumption to the benefit of all industry stakeholders?
Harish: The African broadcast and media industry is bursting with opportunities right now, and there is no time better than the present to take advantage of the phenomenal growth that comes with OTT and VOD.
Our industry is not as over-saturated as broadcast industries in other continents on the globe. We are growing digitally at a rapid pace, but if we arm ourselves with knowledge, there is so much benefit in it for us in terms of delivering content streaming and video-on-demand profitably.
BMA: Could you please tell us what you hope fellow participants will take away from this industry event?
Harish: I hope the participants leave the forum with new strategies on the monetisation of OTT and content streaming services. I also hope that my peers will gain new, global ideas of how to form partnerships and alliances to ensure growth and to improve our service delivery.
BMA: What are your expectations for the Industry Forum in February?
Harish: I expect to network with other industry stakeholders while sharing my experiences and also gaining new knowledge and new ideas from the other key players that will be in attendance at the forum.
