Disney Appoints Sky Exec To Head SVOD In Europe, Africa

Disney has hired the Sky exec, Luke Bradley-Jones, to lead its streaming drive in Europe and Africa.

As the London-based SVP of direct-to-consumer and GM at Disney+ Europe and Africa, Bradley-Jones will oversee the management for Disney+ across Europe and Africa.

The appointment comes ahead of Disney’s two-market international launch which is scheduled to take place in November, along with the debut of the platform.

Bradley-Jones was previously in the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Sky UK, responsible for product and content marketing, brand strategy and customer engagement for all Sky TV, mobile and broadband products.

In his seven and a half years at Sky UK, Luke facilitated the transformation of Sky’s on-demand products and was involved in the launches of Sky Go Extra, Sky Store, Sky Box Sets and Sky Q.

Before joining Sky, Luke worked five years at BBC Studios, initially joining as the Head of Strategy before being promoted to MD of and Global iPlayer, in charge of the Corporation’s mobile, online and digital video-on-demand business.

He then spent over two years in the US where he rolled out and built a digital VOD business through collaborations with Apple, Yahoo, Netflix and Xbox.
